Our collaboration, through Ngā Iwi i Te Rohe o Te Waiariki, with Aotearoa’s top science and technology experts will ensure we can find new ways to both utilise our kaimoana and nurture it for generations to come.

Hī embodies our Te Arawa journey – from our arrival on the Bay of Plenty shores from Hawaiki, our settlement Mai i Maketū ki Tongariro (from Maketū to Tongariro), and the growth and development of our whānau and assets since.
The Hī Matau (fishhook) in our brand signifies our Te Arawa connection to the water and denotes safe travel, prosperity and good health – encompassing everything Hī Mussels stands for.
Hī also draws on the wisdom of our haka. When Māori say ‘hī’ at the end of the haka – our globally-recognised war dance – they are saying ‘rise!’. Our brand epitomises every meaning of the word as we too raise our kaimoana from the seabed and use it to sustain life.
